Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited mountains near Nicosia that is the border of Cyprus that overlooks the illegally occupied Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus along with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides. Turkey illegally occupied it in 1974 and has since ignored UN mandates to withdraw its armed forces from there.

President Nikos Christodoulides and I interacted with leading CEOs in order to add vigour to commercial linkages between India and Cyprus. Sectors like innovation, energy, technology and more offer immense potential. I also talked about India’s reform trajectory in the last decade.

Though Official Flag was adopted in 1960, after Cyprus became independent and Recognized internationally, including by the United Nations and the European Union, Northern Turkish Cypriots had this flag and fighting for Independence. So while the Cyprus flag was meant to be a symbol of unity, in reality, the  Northern Turkish Cypriots use a different flag as shown here.

Croatia is a country located in Southeastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic Sea. It's known for its stunning coastline, rich history, and vibrant culture.

Croatia has a diverse landscape, from mountains to beaches, and a strong cultural heritage influenced by its history as part of various empires and civilizations.

Locals recite 'Gayatri Mantra' to welcome PM Narendramodi Ji  Ji who becomes 1st Bharatiya PM to visit Croatia.

MODI was given a  ceremonial welcome in Zagreb, Croatia. Croatia's Indian community has contributed to Croatia's progress and also remained in touch with their roots in India. In Zagreb, Modi interacted with some members of the Indian community, who accorded me an unforgettable welcome. There was immense enthusiasm among the Indian community here about this visit and its impact in making the bond between our nations stronger than ever before!

Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković said:

“I haven't seen a more committed and hardworking leader like you modi ji. "

India, Croatia decided to firm up a defence cooperation plan following PM talks.

PM Modi said a 'defence cooperation plan' will be made for long-term cooperation in the defence sector, which will focus on training and military exchange as well as defence industry.

In their talks, the two prime ministers also agreed on the importance of improving connectivity, including through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

Croatia can serve as India’s gateway into Central and Southeastern Europe.

The two sides also decided to soon finalise a mobility agreement to facilitate the movement of people.

The PM said, Croatia's support and cooperation is very important in strengthening our strategic partnership with the EU.

"We will promote cooperation in many important areas such as pharma, agriculture, information technology, clean technology, digital technology, renewable energy, semiconductors. Cooperation will be enhanced in shipbuilding and cyber security," he added.

A reprint of Vezdin's Sanskrit Grammar was presented to Modi by the Prime Minister of Croatia. It is the first printed Sanskrit grammar, written in Latin in 1790 by  scientist and missionary Filip Vezdin (1748–1806), based on the knowledge he gained while living in India from Kerala Brahmins and local manuscripts.

With this pioneering work, Filip Vezdin became one of the first European scientists to seriously devote himself to  languages and culture. At the same time, this is also a symbol of the early cultural ties between Croatia and India. As part of the gift exchange, he  also presented a book "Croatia & India, Bilateral Navigator for Diplomats and Business" by  diplomat Dr. Siniša Grgić - which provides a unique and comprehensive comparative overview of our two countries and explores all dimensions of bilateral relations.  This book reflects our achievements, as well as the potential we can still realize, and we believe that it will inspire and encourage the strengthening of our future cooperation and contribute to the further deepening of the mutual friendship between Croatia and India.
