CHHATHI MAIYA FESTIVAL 2025
CHHATHI MAIYA FESTIVAL – FROM 25TH OCTOBER 2025 TO 28TH OCTOBER 2025
The Chhathi Maiya
festival, or Chhath Puja, is a four-day festival that falls between October 25
and October 28 in 2025. The main day of the festival, when devotees offer the
evening prayers (Sandhya Arghya) to the setting sun, is Monday, October 27,
2025.
The festival begins
six days after Diwali and is celebrated with a series of rigorous rituals
dedicated to the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, Sister of Sun God.
Chhathi Maiya is a
revered deity worshipped during the Chhath Puja festival, particularly in the
Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, as well as in
Nepal. She is invoked for the well-being of family, prosperity, and the
longevity of children. Devotees observe a rigorous fast, offer prayers, and
make offerings to the rising and setting sun, believing that Chhathi Maiya
grants their wishes and protects them from harm.
On this day Rama and
Sita fasted, and Surya Shashthi and Chhath Puja was performed by Mata Sita.
Hence, she was blessed with Lava and Kusha as sons. In the Mahabharata,
Chhath Puja was performed by Kunti after she and the Pandavas
escaped from Lakshagriha.
E-Touch prays, on these auspicious days, Sun God and his sister God Chhathi Maiya to bestow wealth, health and prosperity to all our Members.
