2024 LOK SABHA ELECTION – TO WHOM TO VOTE AND WHY

Image
(Editorial published by E-Touch Digital Magazine – Written  by S. Sankaran, Editor.) Modi Sarkar is ruling at the Centre for the last 10 years – two continuous consecutive terms from 2014 to 2024. Bharat Voters had voted Modi in 2014 with 283 MP seats and in 2019 with 303 MP seats and the BJP had now set a target of 370 + MP seats in the current Lok Sabha Election which will be over by June 1 and the results will be out on June 4. To decide ‘To Whom to Vote and Why’, we have two different yardsticks for the ruling party – here it is BJP and for the opposition parties – here it is INDI-Alliances headed by Congress.   For Ruling Party – viz BJP under the leadership of Modi: Voter can judge the track records of the ruling party for the last 10 years and their programmes for the next 5 years. Unbiased assessments of various welfare schemes implemented by the ruling party from various reports – both government and media/print and various articles thereon – apart from the manifesto released

ELECTORAL BONDS – SCRAPPED BY SUPREME COURT

Image
Electoral Bonds were floated in January 2018 and were scrapped by the apex court on the 15th February 2024, after they were in existence for 6 long years.  Electoral Bonds were the idea and plan of Late First Finance Minister of Modi Government Mr. Arun Jaitley to make election fundings transparent and clean to the extent possible. Electoral bonds are like promissory notes – but neither the purchasers nor the beneficiaries – (political parties) identities would be disclosed in the bonds, but these details will be available with the bank issuing such bonds. Only State Bank of India was authorised to issue the bonds through their selective Branches. Electoral Bonds were issued in 5 series of values  ₹ 1,000, ₹ 10,000,         ₹ 1 lac, ₹ 10 lacs  & ₹ 1 crore denominations. The stanches of bonds will be available for purchase for 10 days only in the month of January, April, July, and October with an additional time-frame of 30 days in the year of General Elections for Lok Sabha. Ever since Clean Rule of Sri K. Kamaraj was dethroned from power by DMK, Tamilnadu  Congress Party and in particular so called Congress High Command had done everything for Congress Mukt Tamilnadu. The feeble voices of local Tamilnadu Congress to announce at frequent intervals that “We Willl Bring Kamaraj Rule” had lacked sincerity and hence no impacts on Tamilnadu Electorates.  To survive as a political party, Grand Old All India Congress Party had chosen to wait at the gate of Arivalayam with begging bowls to get some seats allocated to fight the elections as an alliance partner since long. In effect, such a course had led to Congress Mukt in Tamilnadu and its slogan of bringing Karamaj Rule in Tamilnadu had never seen the light of the day.   And above all, it is a pity that such a grand old Tamilnadu Congress had never felt its failures as a political force at least to bargain for a good number of seats to contest in elections. With the arrival of Sri K. Annamalai in the Tamilnadu
