(Published in E-Touch Family Magazine - May 2016 issue) While Sankararaman murder occurred in Kanchipuram Varadharaja Perumal Temple premises on 3 rd September 2004, the alleged assault of auditor Radhakrishnan , his wife Jayashree and assistant Krishnan happened on 20 th September 2002 and in both these incidents, police booked both Jayendra Saraswati and Vijendra Saraswati , the seers of the Kanchi Mutt and were also arrested and put them behind bars. Along with them many were accused and proceeded by the Tamilnadu Police. Both the cases were initiated by Jayalalithaa, when she was the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu . It was opined that the arrest of the Hindu seers was seen as a political mileage to improve her secular image to reach out to Muslim, Christian and Dalit Voters.
