AUSPICIOUS MONTHS FOR HINDUS – AADI AND AAVANI
Bhagavan Lord Krishna declared in Bhagavad Gita thus: “ Of all the months, I am Margashi”. It is pertinent to observe Margashi comes within the six months from Aadi to Thai which is christened as Dhakshinayana Period which is considered auspicious for worship of Amman. With Rain, Cool Weather and Less Sun Shine, Moon becomes the ruling planet and it signifies the beginning of Amman Months. Further Lord Krishna’s Janmashtami falls in the month of AAVANI and Goddess Parvati was also born in the month of AADI called Aadi Pooram. There are many festivals connected to Ambal in the months of AADI such as AADI Thapasu and AADI POORAM. Lord Muruga was born in the month of AADI called Aadi Karthigai. Even Vinayakas’s birth was also in the month of Aavani.
