HANUMAT JAYANTHI – 12TH APRIL 2025
This festival, celebrated on April 12th (Saturday), marks the birthday of Lord Hanuman.
Hanuman
Ji in scriptures was stated to have born in Treta Yuga.
According to traditional Hindu calculations, the four
yugas follow a cyclical pattern:
Kali Yuga – 432,000 years (Started in 3102 BCE, ongoing now)
Dwapara Yuga – 864,000 years
Treta Yuga – 1,296,000 years
Satya Yuga – 1,728,000 years
When Was Treta Yuga?
To estimate Treta Yuga in BCE, we work
backward:
Kali Yuga began in 3102 BCE
Dwapara Yuga lasted 864,000 years → So, it started:
3102+864,000=867,102
Treta Yuga lasted 1,296,000 years → So, it started:
867,102+1,296,000=2,163,102
📌 Treta Yuga
timeline (Traditional Calculation):
Started: ~2,163,102 BCE Ended: ~867,10
Modern Astronomical Estimates: Treta Yuga (~15,000 BCE
– ~5,000 BCE)
But some researchers use planetary positions
from Valmiki Ramayana to estimate that Lord Rama lived around 12,000–17,000
years ago, based on astronomical simulations. This makes Hanuman’s birth
closer to that period.
Hence if
we follow Modern Astronomical Estimates, Hanuman could be presumed to have born
around 5000 BCE.
Hanuman’s
birth is mentioned in the Kishkindha Kanda of the Valmiki Ramayana. His mother
Anjana was a celestial apsara who was cursed to be born as a Vanara (monkey).
She
prayed to Lord Shiva for a divine son, and through Pavana Deva (Vayu - the wind
god), she conceived Hanuman.
Hanuman
is considered an incarnation or Rudra aspect of Lord Shiva.
The
Hanuman Chalisa is a powerful hymn of 40
verses written by Goswami Tulsidas in praise of Lord Hanuman, highlighting his
strength, wisdom, devotion, and service to Lord Rama.
