MARGAZHI MONTH – GOD’S MONTH – SPECIAL SPIRITUAL MONTH TO STABILISE BODY AND MIND
As Lord Krishna proclaimed in the Bhagavad Gita - Month of Margazhi is Mine, Margazhi Month is dedicated to God and God alone. Hence during this month, people of Southern States – viz Tamilnadu , Karnataka, Kerala and Andhrapradesh which includes Telengana are fully engaged in Bhajans, Music, Devotional Dance performances, Spiritual Discourses etc. In this month, people perform nagarsankeerthan – unjavirthi rituals where women folks will offer rice and circle round the bhakthas who sing devotional songs along with musical instruments like thamburas, mridangams, cymbals and subla khata. These are being performed very early morning around Temples. The Bhakthas gather in front of the temple to start their nama sankeerthans and go around the four streets around the temple and conclude in front of the temple. Reciting Andal Thirupavai and Manickavasagar Thiruvambavai are considered very auspicious in the month of Margazhi. Apart from these recitals, Upanyasams about Ramayanam, Mahabh
