Challenging the article of the Hindu – “The Little Dramas in Gujarat”

Image
Shiv Visvanathan had written an article titled “The Little Dramas in Gujarat” which was published in the Hindu dated 28-10-2017. The article is attached with this mail. He is a Professor in Jindal Global Law School and Director, Centre for the Study of Knowledge Systems. As he is a Professor in a Law School apart from holding a position of importance in the Study of Knowledge Systems, one can reasonably expect a reasoned and logical and cogent presentation of his views. If one hates Modi for his doings and non-doings and even wrong doings, we can accept or reject his views based on our own understandings of things presented. One can even tolerate if the same person had love and affection towards Modi’s challenger – viz. Rahul – but, the author should present the picture as a professor of law and logic that appeals to so called ‘Knowledge Systems’ of which he heads. Let me straightway  plunge into the subject of discussion. The author writes about Modi as under:

O, The Hindu Newspaper! Is Thy Name Error in reporting?

SATYAMEVA JAYATHE! The Hindu had erred in reporting one important News item about Modi's inauguration of the ferry project to connect Saurashtra and South Gujarat by sea.  The date of inauguration was wrongly stated as Monday, the 23rd October 2017 as under: In the same paper on last page - i.e. page no.20, a full page advertisement was published as under: Here in the advertisement, the date is clearly mentioned as 22nd October 2017 (Sunday) and not Monday the 23rd October 2017 as reported by the Hindu in the news item. For a newspaper of the HIndu standard, it cannot be brushed aside as a minor error and that too, it is an event attended by the PM.  The reader might not have forgotten the wrong reporting of an incident of Bridge Collapse at  Elphinstone, Railway Foot-Over-Bridge at Charni Road wherein the Hindu reporter had wrongly reported a video as if the man had molested a girl, while actually he was helping her to safety. The new

Yaswant Sinha Vs Jayant Sinha – Father Vs Son by Pavithran

I need to speak up now by Yaswant Sinha , Former BJP Finance Minister – (an article published in the Indian Express) Sinha had criticized the Modi Government in a most uncharitable way even though he is still a BJP – more critical than the Opposition Parties put together. According to him, while Demonetisation is an unmitigated economic disaster, GST – a badly conceived and poorly implemented has done havoc with the economy thereby making countless millions losing jobs and new entrants hardly having any new opportunites to the labour market. For the quick read, all the main points spelt in Sinha’s article are brought out: Point 1: Growth rate of economy reached 5.7 % in the first quarter of the current fiscal year – lowest in three years. The methodology for calculation of the GDP was changed by the present government in 2015 as a result of which the growth rate recorded earlier increased statistically by over 200 basis points on an annual basis. Dilemma of Modi Government in deporting Rohingya Muslims in India

Image
Escaping what the United Nations had called “ethnic cleansing” in Myanmar’s north west state of Rahine , thousands of Rohingya – a Muslim-majority ethnic group – have sought shelter in neighboring countries – mainly to Bangalesh apart from India, Thailand, Malasysia , Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.  More than a lac Rohingyas in Myanmar live in camps for internally displaced persons, and the authorities do not allow them to leave.  Around 40,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to India over the past decade, out of which 16,500 are registered with the UN’s refugee agency. These Rohingyas are being accommodated in camps in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kshmir , West Bengal and North East India and the Indian government does not officially recognize them as refugees.  As India is a non-signatory to United Nation’s Refugee law, India is free to deal with these Rohingyas being settled at camps. Modi Government wants to deport these Rohingya Muslims in India to Myanmar for
