O, The Hindu Newspaper! Is Thy Name Error in reporting?
The Hindu had erred in reporting one important News item about Modi's inauguration of the ferry project to connect Saurashtra and South Gujarat by sea.
The date of inauguration was wrongly stated as Monday, the 23rd October 2017 as under:
Here in the advertisement, the date is clearly mentioned as 22nd October 2017 (Sunday) and not Monday the 23rd October 2017 as reported by the Hindu in the news item.
For a newspaper of the HIndu standard, it cannot be brushed aside as a minor error and that too, it is an event attended by the PM.
The reader might not have forgotten the wrong reporting of an incident of Bridge Collapse at Elphinstone, Railway Foot-Over-Bridge at Charni Road wherein the Hindu reporter had wrongly reported a video as if the man had molested a girl, while actually he was helping her to safety. The newspaper had regretted - if not apologized for this major blunder, the Readers Editor also could not make the Hindu to tender an unconditional apology - but, he wanted perhaps to satisfy with the mere 'regrets'. Of late the quality of the reporting and the Reporters' Accountability were at the lowest ebb even for the so called reputed newspaper like "The Hindu'.
O, Hindu! Is thy Name Error? - I wanted to think aloud along with our E-Touch Readers.
Shame unto you, O Hindu!
What is in Name or Date - I hope that no one would say and brush aside this wrong doing of the Hindu.
S. Sankaran
The Editor - E-Touch.
