Uri town in North Kashmir which is barely 6 km from the line of control, is the administrative base of the Army 10 Dogra where many of our Jawans were stationed in the tents and temporary shelters which were stormed by four heavily armed militants in the wee hours on Sunday the 18th September 2016 and 19 Jawans lost their lives and 19 other personnel were injured. Top army officials had admitted it as a serious setback, though all the four terrorists were killed and their huge ammunitions with Pakistani markings on them along with maps, radio sets, global positioning systems, two metric sheets and large quantities of food and medicine packets having markings of Pakistan were recovered. It was the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades and the militant group Jaish -e-Mohammed is suspected of being involved in the planning and execution of Uri attack.
