AUSPICIOUS MONTHS FOR HINDUS – AADI AND AAVANI

Bhagavan Lord Krishna declared in Bhagavad Gita thus: “ Of all the months, I am Margashi”.

It is pertinent to observe Margashi comes within the six months from Aadi to Thai which is christened as Dhakshinayana Period which is considered auspicious for worship of Amman.

With Rain, Cool Weather and Less Sun Shine, Moon becomes the ruling planet and it signifies the beginning of Amman Months.

Further Lord Krishna’s Janmashtami falls in the month of AAVANI and Goddess Parvati was also born in the month of AADI called Aadi Pooram. There are many festivals connected to Ambal in the months of AADI  such as AADI Thapasu and AADI POORAM.

Lord Muruga was born in the month of AADI called Aadi Karthigai. Even Vinayakas’s birth was also in the month of Aavani.

Further,  the Hindus will be performing more religious rituals both in the months of AADI and AAVANI such as Aadi Chevvai, Aadi Velli, Aadi Ammavashya, Aadi Peruku on 18th Day of AADI, Naga Panchami 2nd August 2022, Varalakshmi Viratham 5th August 2022,  Raksha Bhandan on 11th August 2022, AAVANIYA Avittam and Gayathri Japam on 11th and 12th August 2022 respectively.  Hence along with Margashi, AADI – AAVANI Tamil Months are also auspicious months.

During these two Tamil months of Aadi and Aavani, all Hindus homes will be reverberating with festivities, festoons,  feasts and fasts. In the process, Hindus’ houses will be filled up with Bhakthi, Bhajans and Prayer Songs and of course daily poojas.

LET US ALL BE BLESSED WITH THE GRACE OF GODDESSES AND GODS WITH  HEALTH, PROSPERITY, LONG AND PEACEFUL LIFE.
