This auspicious day marks the divine manifestation of Goddess Gayatri, revered as Veda Mata (the Mother of the Vedas). According to the lunar calendar, it traditional coincides with the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of the Jyeshtha month (the same day as Nirjala Ekadashi). Scripturally, this day commemorates the moment Sage Vishwamitra first universalized and shared the 24-syllable Gayatri Mantra with the world, breaking down barriers to spiritual illumination and dispelling internal darkness.

Goddess Gayatri (Gayatri Mata): 

Gayatri is revered in Hinduism as the Mother of the Vedas. She is considered the divine embodiment of the sacred Gayatri Mantra. 

Significance of Goddess Gayatri: She is often depicted with five faces, symbolizing divine knowledge and the five aspects of spiritual wisdom. She is usually shown seated on a lotus, representing purity and enlightenment. Her vehicle is often depicted as a swan (Hamsa), symbolizing wisdom and discrimination. 

She is worshipped as the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, purity, and spiritual illumination.

Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah

Tat Savitur Varenyam

Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi

Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

 Meaning:"We meditate upon the divine radiance of the Supreme Creator, who has created the universe. May that divine light illuminate and inspire our intellect.“ 

According to the Vedic tradition, the chanting of the Gayatri Mantra is believed to promote:Purity of mind, Clarity of intellect, Spiritual growth, Inner peace and enlightenment.
