Three Popular Faces - Unmasked By Naithrupan

Popular Face One: Mr.Shivaraj Patil, Home Minister of India.

On the 13th September 2008, there were five series of co-ordinated bomb blasts killing 20 people and injuring 90 others in busy markets across the Indian capital of Delhi. The bombs, the first of which exploded at 6.15pm, all went off within 45 minutes of each other and were centred on three main areas.

Even in such a tragic occasion, Mr.Patil was more concerned about his appearance rather than to rush to the spot to oversee the rescue operations and to seize the situations from going out of control. It was proved by Television footings, Mr.Patil had changed his dresses three times consequently after the blasts ripping through New Delhi.

The details are as under: 1. White Suit at 6.30 p.m. to attend Congress Working Committee Meeting. 2. Dark colored suit while giving bytes to TV cameras, after the blasts. 3. White colored suit to inspect the blast sites and to visit hospitals in the company of Sonia Gandhi.

Even while the people were suffering the bone-chilling mayhem caused by the serial blasts, Mr.Patel was busy raiding his wardrobe for clothes suited for the occasion.

When he was asked about his behaviour of changing dresses in such tragic situations, he shot back with these questions as his answer: Is it a sin to take bath? Am I a drunkard? Am I going to night clubs? Am I have to sit in a police station like an Inspector? Can I not take bath and change my dress?

The answer only exposes his insenstiveness and no concern for the bomb blasts’ victims.

It was revealed now that Mr.Patel, who was defeated in the Lok Sabha election, was seen as a quite suitable person to hold the powerful home portfolio, as he had no followers in the Congress Party and as also he would always be loyal to Sonia Gandhi without creating a power centre around himself. That is the fate of our Country.

One may wonder whether Mr.Patel is always like that?
Answer to this question is an emphatic ‘Yes.’
Mr.Patel keeps changing his dresses in hours of grief and before condolence meetings as well.

When he was Lok Sabha Speaker, one of his close associates passed away. Patil turned up at the hospital at 5.00 a.m., dressed as impressively as ever. A few hours later, after the body had been brought home, Patil turned up wearing a different suit. He was at the cremation ground too-in a third set of clothes!
Mr. Patil would be well suited for as a Minister for Fashion and if there is none, better it would be to create one to accommodate Mr.Patil in case of Sonia Gandhi deciding Patil to relinquish his home portfolio.

Popular Face Two:
Mr.Oscar Fernandes, Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

Mr. L.K. Chaudhary, the Greater Noida-based CEO of Graziano, an Italian firm, was brutally murdered in the firm’s campus at the hands of laid off contractual employees.

Mr. Oscar Fernades had reacted to this murder with the following comments: This murder is a warning to private enterprises and managements. It is an indication of simmering discontent among workers.

His remarks evoked a sharp reaction from industry, which described it as shocking and said that whatever the circumstances, murder could not be condoned.

The minister was asked by his senior colleagues to tender apology. He said: I would like to put an end to this chapter. I am sorry. If I have no right to speak, I will never speak. My remarks are misunderstood. I offer profound apologies to everybody who feels hurt.

His apology is more appalling indicating of no remorse being felt by him. It is simply a power of arrogance of his post for which the country is to suffer.

Popular Face Three:
Mrs. Teesta Setalvad, Social Activist.

Setalvad is famous for her bold steps in having succeeded for a retrial of the famous Best Bakery Case at Mumbai. Best Bakery case was to investigate the post Godhra carnage of the bakery shop at Vadodara wherein 14 persons (including 12 muslims) were torched by the mob. She has expressed that she is very proud of being part of left tradition. She is being funded by the congress and communists parties. She had recently visited the churches which were desecrated at Karnataka and Orissa. She was all praise for the protests engineered by the Christians of Karnataka.

Her statement is as under: The heartening thing was that christian people at Karnataka were not cowering in fear, but were angry and protesting against outrageous act. This is an indication, the designs of those who are out to create communal disharmony will not go unchallenged. This is in contrast to States like Gujarat where resistance has been almost non-existent. Protests are critical to countering this trend which is fast spreading to new areas.

Her message is : Protests crucial to protect communal harmony. In short, she is advocating – violence to violence. It is an irony that she had chosen the christians for her advice, as this is against their breed. ‘Eye for Eye, Tooth for Tooth’ could be quite palatable for leftists and not for christians. Her advice will only lead the nation to communal disharmony. Perhaps, she is not a believer in the usual oft-repeated slogan – Law will take its own course.

Instigating one community against the other is not a solution, at the same time, the Government should not fail in protecting the people at large without any discrimination on the basis of caste or creed. She is a law unto herself and preaches violence to affected community as a self-defence which will only endanger peace of the land on a permanent footing.
