Politics – Castes - Religions Cloaked Discussions – Debates - Decisions

After 26th May 2014 – the day on which Modi took charge as the Prime Minister of India, there were continuous violent and vicious propaganda to incite and to portray and to colour even stray and remote incidents of suicide, murder, rape or hate speeches and thereby put the entire blame on Modi’s Shoulders. The atmosphere is so partisan and polarized that the issues discussed, debated and decided were soaked and cloaked on the basis of politics, castes and religions of victims/perpetrators. In the process, press, media, political parties etc. had failed and continue to fail India as a Sovereign Socialists Secular Democratic Republic with the solemn resolve to secure all its citizens Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity as enshrined in the Preamble of our Indian Constitution.

Press – both Print and Media, Political Parties, Religious Bodies, Castes based Forums, Students’ Unions of various denominations of castes, political parties, religious outfits are there to pass comments, to agitate and incite others to protests even violently – thereby entire episodes will be one sided and truth and justice will be massacred much to the delights of those anti-nationals here and abroad who are waiting to see that India is showcased in poor light in the international forums thereby jeopardizing the developmental efforts undertaken by the Governments – both Central and State.

Some people want different yardsticks for different communities – if Dalits/Muslims were victims, then accept their versions as final and punish the persons identified by the victims summarily without giving the affected persons chance to tell their versions. Voices like ‘Intolerant India after May 2014’, ‘Return of Awards as a protest to Intolerant India’, ‘Saffronisation of Education’, ‘Hindutva Policy of Central Govt.’, ‘Massacre of Muslims/Christians’ etc. are raised even for some stray incidents which, when probed later, are proved that minorities communities are not above board and are not innocent.

‘India First and everything next’ is the fundamental idea and thought to be nationalist for each and every Indian. Even this noble idea of India is not being accepted by some minority communities who want ‘Islam First and everything next’ and they are having their own preferences even in showing allegiance to our National Anthem, National Flag, Constitution of India – and in particular, Vanthe Matharam – our National Song is taboo for them stating that the song is against the tenets of Islam. How can one bring religion here, when our India is secular? – such question is never posed to the minorities due to ‘sickularism.’

Common Civil Law cannot be implemented in India to eliminate discrimination amongst various religious sects especially Muslims and hence India is saddled with the Hindu Succession Act, Hindu Marriage Act, Muslim and Christian Marriage Acts.

While Hindu Temples are being State Run Institutions, other religious places are beyond the control of States and except majority Hindus, all others have their own religious funds at their disposal fully. Even the Judiciaries are more than ready to implement various reforms – whether good or bad for Hindus, they are very much afraid to touch any rational reforms in other minorities’  religious customs.

Justice, Liberty and Equality as enshrined in the Preamble of our constitution should not be discriminatory to any one. Caste, creed, religion, politics etc.  are not to be taken note of, when deciding any riots, violent acts, agitations and satyagrahas. Hope that India will be mature enough to raise from such shortcomings very shortly.

Think India Think.
