QUTUB MINAR – PRIDE OF MUSLIMS AND PAIN OF HINDUS AND JAINS

Qutub Minar means Victory Tower.

It is Pride of Muslims because 73 metre high Qutub Minar was built by the first Muslim ruler of Delhi, Qutub-ud-din Aibak, to commemorate his victory over the last Hindu ruler of Delhi Prithiviraj Chauhan and that too it was built using the materials obtained by demolishing 27 Hindu and Jain temples.

Qutub Minar is Pain for Hindus and Jains as it was built with the ruins of 27 Hindu and Jain Temples. This place was probably a Vishnu Temple before Aibak’s Victory Tower and its destruction is the eternal pain of Hindus and Jains.

Qutub Minar was actually 'Vishnu Stambh' before. The Famous Iron Pillar is a testimony to this Vishnu stupa claim.

An inscription over its eastern gate provocatively informs that it was built with material obtained from demolishing ’27 Hindu temples. The Official website reads:

“The main mosque comprises of an inner and outer courtyard, decorated with shafts and surrounded by Pillar. Most of these shafts are from the 27 Hindu temples, which were plundered to construct the mosque. It is, therefore, not surprising that the Muslim mosque has typical Hindu ornamentation.”

Pain of Hindus and Jains has become more acute, severe and perennial on the following counts:

1. Ibn Batuta, Moroccan traveler, stated that near the eastern gate of the mosque near Qutub Minar were two very big idols of copper connected together by stones and everyone who left the mosque treaded over them.

2.  Qub al-Dīn Aibak's chronicler, Hasan Nizami, Taj-ul-Maasir wrote: 'The conqueror entered the city and its vicinity was freed from idols and idol-worship; and in the sanctuaries of the images of the gods, mosques were raised by the worshippers of the one God.'

3. An inscription over its eastern gate provocatively informs that it was built with material obtained from demolishing 27 Hindu temples.

4. Qutub Minar was actually 'Vishnu Stambh'.

National Monument Authority (NMA) chairman and BJP leader Tarun Vijay had said that Ganesha idols were placed "disrespectfully" in the Qutub Minar complex (perhaps upside down to demean Hinduisms’ Idol Worshippers by the then Mughal rulers). To remove or to reset the idols, the matter is sub judice at present. There is an ‘Inverted Ganesha’ and a ‘Cage Ganesha’ in the temple.

KK Mohammed said, “Not one, but there were many idols of Lord Ganesha found at the site. It was the capital of the Chuahans, including Prithviraj Chauhan. There were around 27 Hindu temples, and Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque was built on the ruins of these temples using the same elements. You can clearly find the evidence through Arabic inscriptions which say that 27 temples were destroyed to build a mosque at the site.”

Qutub Minar was built as a Victory Tower, to celebrate the victory of Muhammad Ghori over the Rajput king, Prithviraj Chauhan, in 1192 AD, by his then viceroy, Qutb-ud-din Aibak, later the first Sultan of Mamluk dynasty. Its construction also marked the beginning of Muslim rule in India.

Quwwat-ul-Islam  meaning Might of Islam Mosque was constructed beside Qutub Minar.  The construction was started in 1193 CE by Qutb-ud-din-Aibak to mark his victory over the Rajputs.

Both Minar and Mosque were built over the site of a large temple located in the centre of a citadel.

It was the first mosque built in Delhi after the Islamic conquest of India.

The famous iron pillar is located on the stone pavement in front of it, while Qutub Minar is located west of the main entrance.

A 7 m-high iron pillar stands in the courtyard of the mosque. It is said that if you can encircle it with your hands while standing with your back to it your wish will be fulfilled.

The iron pillar is one of the world's foremost metallurgical curiosities. (More details are available in the article published in this issue after the editorial. – The Editor)

Renowned archaeologist KK Mohammed said: “Remnants of temples were found near Qutub Minar, including Lord Ganesha temple. It proves there was a temple.”

KK Mohammed said, “The biggest mistake communist Historians make is that they try to hide the truth.

It is a fact that temples were demolished and there is no benefit of hiding the truth.”

Delhi Court directed ASI not to remove Lord Ganesha idols. National Monument Authority (NMA) chairman and BJP leader Tarun Vijay wanted to move the Ganesha idols from the premises. However, a Delhi court stayed the order and directed ASI not to remove the idols. Additional District Judge Nikhil Chopra, in an order, directed ASI not to take any action till the matter was heard before the court. The hearing in the matter will take place on May 17.

The directions from the court were on a suit filed by advocate Hari Shankar Jain on behalf of Jain deity Tirthankar Lord Rishabh Dev. The plea claimed that 27 temples were demolished by Qutubdin Aibak, and Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque was constructed using the material from the ruins. Advocate Jain said there were two idols of Lord Ganesha on the premises, and ASI was likely to remove and place them in National Museum as just artefacts.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has also demanded that the government should rebuild the ancient temples in the complex and allow Hindus to offer prayers. Vinod Bansal of VHP said: “We visited major parts of the site, and it was heart-rending to see the condition of the idols of Hindu deities… The superimposed structure was built just to tease the country.”

For so many years, these tragic truths were buried fathom deep in order not to antagonize the Indian Muslims Minorities who are united in protecting their Muslims Invaders who had followed Sword Verses of their Holy Book as Sweet Verses much to the agonies of other religious faiths especially Hindus and Jains who were mercilessly persecuted for their idol worships at the peak of Abrahamic Invaders with their swords and religious intolerance.

Historical Truths – however unpalatable they might be – should be revealed so that wounds of injustices might be healed and that real brotherhood will emerge.

Present Modi Government had given some courage and encouragement to come out with historical facts and evidences to expose the blood soaked history of Muslim Rulers and thereby some injustices to the majority Hindus are being undone, though Hindus are yet to get Full Justices done.

Teachings of every religion should be confined to the respective religious followers and conflicts arise only when the one’s religious faith is imposed on other religious people. Respect and Disrespect are the two sides of a coin and they are inter relative. Respect begets Respect and Disrespect begets Disrespect.  Let Muslims acknowledge that they do not approve the wrong doings of their rulers and it would be still better if they come forward to condemn their actions of destructions of religious places of Hindus and Jains just like in the case of Qutub Minar.

Let there be ‘No Use of Sword or Stone’ – instead ‘All Use Sweets and Showers of Flowers’ to spread the message of Peace, Prosperity and Harmony forever.
