Stalin’s Legislative Steps to release Prematurely Muslims Coimbatore Blasts Terrorists Convicts

Stalin – CM of Tamilnadu had passed resolution in the The Tamilnadu State Assembly to release 49 prisoners, including Muslims during the 115th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C N Annadurai. They include Muslims Terrorists serving life imprisonment in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case. Now, the matter is awaiting the Governor’s nod.

It is unconstitutional and against justice, if the elected government views the prisoners on religious angles and then succumb to the appeasements policies leading to Vote Bank Politics.

Terrorists are terrorists irrespective of their religions and to pardon because they belong to Muslim Religion is against natural common justice –  it is tantamount to practicing pseudo justice. They are prisoners, convicts undergoing punishments with the due process of judicial processes.

Hence, any interference with the judicial verdicts by themselves are evil and dangerous and against peace of the land.

Releasing Coimbatore bomb blast case convicts as part of the appeasement politics of the DMK-led government is by itself against the Muslims who desire peace and not terrorism.

The 1998 Coimbatore bombings occurred on Saturday, 14 February 1998, in the city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.

A total of 58 people were killed and over 200 injured in the 12 bomb attacks in 11 places, all within a 12 kilometres.

The bombings were apparently in retaliation to the 1997 Coimbatore riots during November – December the previous year, when Hindu fundamentalists groups killed 18 Muslims and 2 Hindus and looted several thousands of properties of Muslims following the murder of a traffic policeman named Selvaraj, by a member of the radical Islamist group Al Ummah. The main conspirator was found to be S A Basha, the founder of Al Ummah, an Islamic fundamentalist body. Investigators found out that the blasts were a part of larger conspiracy to target L.K.Advani, the leader of Bharatiya Janata Party on that day at 4 p.m in his election meeting.

One of the bombs went off 800 m (2,600 ft) away from the podium where he was to conduct his election rally.

Since the blasts were masterminded by Islamic fundamentalists and planted in areas with a Hindu majority population, most of the victims were Hindus.

In the Lok Sabha election held after the blasts in 1998, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan won by a record margin of over 1,00,000 votes.

On 17 November 2009, nine members of Al Ummah, convicted in the blasts were released from jail for their good conduct, 16 months short of their full sentence on the occasion of 100th birth anniversary of Arignar Anna, the founder of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and ex-chief minister. This release also should have been avoided, but, appeasement of Muslims for their votes had made the rulers to take this unethical step.

The following powerful observations of the Supreme Court in the case of bail applications pertaining to some blasts convicts should have been an eye opener for the Tamilnadu Government at the time of its recommendations of premature release of Muslims Terrorists undergoing imprisonment:

“Look at what you have done. 58 people were killed. The nature of crime is an important factor when considering bail. There are concurrent findings by two courts of your guilt. It is an atrocious incident. Now, you are asking us to look at individual roles. Sorry, we cannot do that.”

But, it is a matter of concern that all Tamilnadu Political Parties except BJP are for the early release of these muslim convicts.

ADMK party Chief Edappadi K. Palanisami had gone many steps in Muslims Appeasements by his request to the Government to give proper facilities for Muslim Prisoners for their prayers and other facilities so that their religious duties could be performed without any hindrance.

“We now broke our alliance with BJP and Muslims will be willing to support and vote us during election” was Edappadi’s statement in the context of his support to release premature release of Muslims Terrorists Prisoners.

The matter is pending with the Governor of Tamilnadu and E-Touch wish that the Governor will not give his consent for the premature release of the Terror Convicts.
