Enact or Erase

 "Ban Cow Slaughter!"

Is it a slogan?

Is it the agenda of Hindu fundamentalists?

Is it the agenda of one political party – read BJP?

Is it the agenda of RSS?

NO, NO, NO – to Infinity!

It is a constitutional unfulfilled agenda.

Our fathers of constitution had already incorporated the 'ban on cow slaughter‘ as a directive principle.

Article 48 of the Directive Principles of our Indian Constitution has given directions to the States to pass necessary legislations in this regard.

The Article 48 of the Directive Principles of our Constitution states:

The State shall endeavor to organize agriculture and animal husbandry on modern and scientific lines and shall, in particular, take steps for preserving and improving the breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter, of cows and calves and other milch and draught cattle.

Hence the constitution directs the States to enact suitable acts to enforce the ban on cow slaughter. It is a principle to be enforced by an act.

If the Indian democracy is unable to act on the directive principle in spite of many years, one can reasonably presume that the States and the Centre are not respecting the Indian Constitution and the framers of the Constitution.

Only after careful considerations and discussions and debates, the directive principles should have been incorporated in the constitution. Hence, no more discussions or debates are warranted. Only action is needed.

E-Touch declares:

Enact or Erase. Enact the Act to Ban Cow Slaughter or Else Erase Article 48‘.
