Uttar Pradesh was ruled in the past - first by Mayavati’s BSP for 6 years + and subsequently by Mulayam Singh and then by his son Akhilesh Yadev combined for 8 years + - totalling around 14 years. All these years, Minoritism - Vote Bank Politics of Appeasement towards Muslims were openly practiced and tolerated - leaving the Majority Hindus to suffer under their misrule.

Law and Order had become one sided - favouring Muslims even if they were violently rioting and resorting to mass murders and on the other hand, the Hindus who were retaliating in self-defence were targeted by the police forces and booked under various sections. Even the biased, Sickular and Prestitute Main Stream Media were always supporting whether it was BSP or SP government and painting the BJP’s support bases to the beleaguered Hindus as the Hindutva and Fundamentalist forces spreading fears in the minds of the Muslims Brethren. One such specific instance was the huge exodus of Hindus from Kairana - a historic city in the Western UP which was never acknowledged by the Media and Press, but, Yogi and BJP took up the issues and warned that the State Government had failed to prevent such exodus in view of its appeasement politics. In Kairana, out of total population of 89,000, Musilms are about 80% and Hindus about 18%. 

Yogi’s comments on the riots in western UP which are labelled as communal, are reproduced here: “There have been 450 riots cases in West UP in two-and-a-half years of Samajwadi Party rule because the population of a particular community is rising manifold. Why are there no riots in Eastern UP? You can easily understand. In places where there are 10-20% minority population, stray communal incidents take place. Where there are 20-35% of them, serious communal riots take place and where they are more than 35%, there is no place for non-Muslims.”

On Kairana’s Exodus of Hindus, Yogi’s following comments were condemned by the Media: “When I look at western UP, I have regrets… when I see the social framework and demography… On January 19, 1990, Hindus had to migrate collectively from Kashmir. A massacre took place, the honour of mothers and sisters were openly tramped upon. If we have seen a sight similar to this anywhere, it was either in Bengal or western UP. Kairana and Kandhla are examples.”

The comments might not be palatable to the Muslims Brethren and other Secular forces, but, Yogi was duty bound to bounce back on the evil forces attacking Hindus - Sisters and Brothers by Muslims who were not being controlled by the Law Enforcement Authorities - after all though in robe, Yogi is a politician - MP - having a title as a Fundamentalist Hindutva Firebrand Head of Hindu Yuva Vahini and perhaps he had done some justice to the title bestowed on him!

After 14 Years’ vanavas - like Lord Rama’s exile, BJP + had won a historic mandate of 2/3rd Majority by winning 325 seats out of 405 seats in UP election which had shocked many Liberals, Leftists and even foreign Medias. Those Sickularists pundits were even started criticising the results and the voters. Their exclusive intellectual elitism comes to their rescue with the argument that people are gullible or always make the right electoral choices is simplistic and they have gone one step further to philosophise the result comforting themselves that one needs to transcend democracy beyond elections.

Even before the Media could come out of their shock of BJP’s historic election victory, the BJP had given them yet another fatal shock by nominating Yogi Adityanath - 44 year old - the diminutive shaven headed saffron clad politician and the head of the Gorakhnath Math and 5 time Gorakhpur MP from the young age of 26 right from 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 till date.

To be fair, certain Yogi Adityanath’s utterances were inflammable.  But, all his fire-brand statements were uttered as rejoinders to the statements of political opponents - Muslims and other political parties.  Their utterances were equally, if not, more inflammable that of Yogis’.

But, his traits and past deeds give us a different picture - Astute Hindutva Man with open mind to accept and accommodate Muslims in need and distress. 

Do you know who was present CM Yogi’s gurubhai?

Mahant Gulabnath Bapu (previous Head Math at Visnagar, Gujarat) who was born as a Muslim with the name Gul Mohammad Pathan was Yogi’s gurubhai. Further, the same Mahant Gulabnath Bapu was also Guru of Mahant Avaidyanath (previous Head Math at Gorakhpur and Guru of CM yogi ).  CM Yogi’s relation with Gulabnath Bapu was so strong that when Gulabnath,86, breathed his last, he came to Visnagar, Gujarat to perform his last rites on December 6,2016 .

If you know the Gorakhpur Mutt’s activities, you will come to the conclusion that Yogi Adityanath is a true secularist.

In Gorakhpur Mutt, Important Land Records of the mutt are being handled by Zakir Ali Waarsi, 51 since 2004 who is duly assisted by Mohammed Yaseen. Hold your breath - these two Muslims work with the members of Yogi’s controversial organisation - Hindu Yuva Vahini in overseeing construction of a medical college-cum-research near the mutt.

Yasin Ansari is with the Gorakhnath Temple for the last 35 years supervising all expenditure. Muhammed Moan takes care of Yogi’s bovines. From bangles to utensils, Muslims families just like many Hindu families earn a living inside the mutt premises. There have been Muslim women who have cooked in the Mutt’s kitchen just as they have taken part in voluntary service associated with Yogi’s Mutt. Most importantly, those reside inside the mutt and residents of Gorakhpur in general speak of no disparity, differential treatment by their MP.

In the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party was hunting for a huge open area for their prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who was drawing huge crowds. The area they zeroed in, near Maanvela village in Gorakhpur, had a high Muslim population. Much to the surprise of the party leadership, the Muslims themselves came forward and offered their agriculture land for Modi’s rally, who till then carried the Godhra taint. The reason: Mahant Yogi Adityanath had helped the Muslims of the area to get their dues for the land acquired by the Gorakhpur Development Authority. Hence Yogi is not being hated by all Muslims and he has his own pockets of influence amongst Muslims - particularly in Eastern Part of UP.

Yogi immediately on taking charge as CM of UP had taken some active and aggressive steps to straighten the 15 years misrule. It is to his credit that Yogi had not transferred any top officials so far, but, advised them, while retaining in the same post, to religiously follow and implement the BJP’s Manifesto. Closing of Illegal Slaughter Houses, Safety of Women with the creation of Anti-Romeo Squad, Cleanliness, Corruption Free Administration, and Time bound decision/delivery are some of the measures initiated by Yogi. 

Yogi is being loved and hated in UP and elsewhere, but, Yogi is also being looked upon as Next Modi - UP Modi. Even the public had raised slogans in the swearing-in function as ‘Modi, Modi, Yogi Yogi.’

Yogi has joined the Bachelors’ club of CMs - consisting of Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Haryana CM ML Khattar, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Naveen Patnaik of Odisha and Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal. Interestingly, apart from Patnaik and Banerjee, all the other CMs are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, in the case of Yogi Adityanath, he is the first unmarried CM of Uttar Pradesh and second CM from the backward region of Gorakhpur – Eastern UP.

Political analyst Prof Rajesh Singh said,“Yogi Adityanath is hardworking, honest and accessible. His predecessors — Digvijay Nathji and Avaidnathji — never visited a cremation ground, but he attends all functions, including those of birth and death.” Prof Singh, however, cautions that the new chief minister will be able to provide good governance if “he can control his tongue and tone down his belligerence”.

Yogi, it seems, had already tone down his usual hard hitting retorts and had said: His present agenda is Modi’s Development - Sabka  saath, sabka vikas: collective efforts, inclusive growth. India is expecting Yogi to make Uttar Pradesh - Uttam Pradesh.

Hence, we hope that CM Yogi will shine as UP Jothi. 

Let the darkness of 15 years misrule of UP vanish with Jothi lit by Yogi Adityanath.
