AMERICAN GANDHI – BERNIE MEYER




Activist and Ex-Priest in US church Bernie Meyer dubbed as American Gandhi dressed like Gandhi used to visit India every year since 2005. At 82 he is actively involved in climate change and anti-nuclear weapon campaign.
Recently he was at Central University of Karnataka in Kalaburugi.
His message: Take the essence of Gandhi's principles and apply it to modern situations.
In 2004 he was invited to come to India to teach the youth about Gandhi. Hence from 2005 he began coming to India and the present one is his 15th trip.
As per his view Gandhian principles rather than Gandhian ideology are to be followed since ideology is rigid while principles are flexible.
He explained: I am with Gandhi and beyond Gandhi.
I am opposed to copying of ideas in toto. I don't use spinning wheel today as Gandhi did. Now it won't work.
We can take some of the ideas from Gandhi to create an alternative. We have to come up with a way to use natural resources in a more equitable way.
In short American Gandhi is great in his own way and his love for truth is strong like Gandhi.
Gandhi's legacy has an universal appeal and application.

Nithyashree Mahadevan , Aruna Sairam , OS Arun , Unnikrishnan , Anuradha Shriram , Tippu & Saindhavi – names that you’re most familiar with Carnatic music who are supposed to be a role model for younger generatons .  The above mentioned singers  stooped down to the lowest level possible. They all signed up to sell their music, Thyagaraja Kirthanas to christian mission by simply changing few words and singing in praise of Jesus. It is highly condemnable that they chose to replace the word Rama with Yesu and sang all the kirthanas . It is that same Rama and Krishna who showered their blessings and made them popular and these scumbags have decided to sell our kirthanas to churches who will use them ONLY to do more conversion. Ancient India was called as Bharatavarsa meaning thereby – the country ( varsa ) of Bharata – Emperor Bharata , the son of Shakuntala and Dushyanta Maharaja. Further, Bharata in Sanskrit means Bha – Light and Knowledge and Rata – Devoted and hence Bharata means ‘Devoted to light/knowledge’. In view of such loaded cultural and spiritual background about our ancient country, the constitution of India in its Article 1 (1) confirmed the name of India as Bharat and the actual wording runs thus: “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States” and hence Bharat is officially acknowledged as the name of our country – though the ‘ sickular liberals’ do not want to acknowledge this fact – but, they want our country to be called as ‘India’ only.
