16th January 2021 - Golden Date for Bharat’s Fight with Covid-19
It was on this day the national vaccination drive against the
SARS – CoV -2 which was responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic began across
3,006 vaccination centres. And it was
world’s biggest vaccination programme.
Within a fortnight, India had vaccinated over 30 lacs front
line corona warriors and hence it became world fastest rate vaccination
programme as well, since the USA needed 18 days and the UK took 36 days to
reach this figure.
Due to our policy of Atmanirbhar Bharat, India had produced
two vaccines approved by India’s drugs regulator in India in large quantities
that had ensured to meet not only our local demands but also to export these
life saving vaccines to many – now the figure being 30 + countries – initial
supplies being free as our gift. India is all set to export 7 million
made-in-India doses of Covishield vaccine as free gift.
The consignment packages with our Covishield vaccines
had the ancient Sanskrit Mantra, Sarve
Santu Niramayah’ meaning ‘May All Be Free From Disease’ printed on them which
clearly indicated that more India is capable, the more will it serve the
humanity for the benefit of the world at large.
India’s Drug Controller General approved the following two
vaccines:
Covishield: It is produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune
in collaboration with Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
Covaxin: It is indigenously developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in
collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National
Institute of Virology.
Till date there were no adverse effects on the vaccinated
covid-19 warriors and the report of death of nine people suggests that these
deaths were unrelated to the vaccines.
Before launching of this massive free vaccination programme
throughout India, Modi Government had to face many hurdles from the so called
Medical Experts and opposition political parties and even uncharitable media –
local and global.

Each and every allegations were duly explained by the
respective medical luminaries, but, these had created a fear psychosis in a
section of the people and only time will make them to come forward to take the
jabs. The latest position is that Mam Lancet UK said Covaxin is safe and has no
serious side effects.
Many Countries had faith in the adequacy, effectiveness and
curativeness of India’s vaccines especially Covishield – much to the embarrassment
of the Medical Experts – not to speak about the opposition parties/medias.
But the world health organization praised India for its bold
steps in embarking on vaccination programme in a massive scale and also to
export these vaccines to other countries as gifts.
Credits should go to all – from the scientists, technicians,
doctors and nurses who are the vaccinating teams and above all the
manufacturing units who are meeting the continuous local and global demands.
