Guru Purnima and Buddha’s First Sermon at Sarnath on 29th July 2026 Wednesday

While Guru Purnima falls exactly on July 29, 2026 (the full moon of the Hindu month of Ashadha), Buddha Purnima was celebrated earlier this year on May 1, 2026 (the full moon of Vaisakha). However, Buddhists also hold the Buddha Guru Purnima day sacred to honor the Buddha as their supreme spiritual teacher, as Buddha was said to have gave his first sermon at Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh on Full Moon of Ashadha.

Guru Purnima is also known as Vyasa Purnima and this day is commemorated as birth anniversary of Veda Vyasa. Veda Vyasa was the author as well as a character in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. Further Adi Shankara, Sri Ramanuja Acharya and Sri Madhvacharya are some of the noteworthy Gurus in Hinduism and all these Gurus are worshiped by the respective religious sects on this auspicious day.

E-TOUCH PROSTRATE AT THE FEET OF ALL GURUS.
