World Skills - Winner Shweta Ratanpura 7 Others


Shweta Ratanpura became the first ever woman candidate from India to win a medal at World Skills, recently held in Kazan Russia.



The female contingent of the country is winning awards and medals left right and centre especially in the field of athletics. Be it PV Sindhu, Manasi Joshi, Manu Baker, Hima Das, Bhavna Tokekar, the list is endless. S Aswatha Narayana from Odisha won a gold medal in water technology, Pranav Nutalapati from Karnataka won a silver medal in web technologies while Sanjoy Pramanik from West Bengal won the bronze medal in jewellery and Shweta Ratanpura from Maharashtra also won the bronze medal in graphic designing. 
Indian contingent won a total of 19 medals at the competition including - one Gold, one Silver and two bronze medals along with 15 medals of excellence. More than 1,350 competitors participated from 63 countries that participated in the global competition. All these wins ranked India on 13th position out of 63 countries. 


A statement by skills development ministry read, ‘Blazing a trail of glory for India at the global stage, the 48-member Indian team returned with the best-ever finish at the WorldSkills International Competition 2019 in Kazan, Russia by winning 19 medals and medallions of excellence.’
