Ratha Saptami or Arogya Saptami or Surya Jayanti – on 19th February 2021 – Friday


 

Shukla Paksha Saptami in the month of Magha is known as Ratha Saptami or Magha Saptami.  It is the birthday of Bhagwan Surya.  Hence this day is also defined as Surya Jayanti.

Bhagwan Surya is said to be sitting on a chariot with seven white horses. The day of Ratha Saptami  denotes the journey of Lord Surya to the Northern hemisphere in his chariot. It marks the arrival of summer and indicates a change in the climatic conditions across the regions of Southern India. 

It also symbolizes the beginning of the harvest season for the farmers. Continuous chanting of the Suryashtakam, Surya Sahasranaam, and Gayatri Mantra on the day of Ratha Saptami are considered as  highly auspicious. 

As per the Hindu religion, Lord Surya grants longevity and good health and it is believed that the devotees are blessed with the same if they worship and offer prayers to the deity on this auspicious occasion.

Nithyashree Mahadevan , Aruna Sairam , OS Arun , Unnikrishnan , Anuradha Shriram , Tippu & Saindhavi – names that you’re most familiar with Carnatic music who are supposed to be a role model for younger generatons .  The above mentioned singers  stooped down to the lowest level possible. They all signed up to sell their music, Thyagaraja Kirthanas to christian mission by simply changing few words and singing in praise of Jesus. It is highly condemnable that they chose to replace the word Rama with Yesu and sang all the kirthanas . It is that same Rama and Krishna who showered their blessings and made them popular and these scumbags have decided to sell our kirthanas to churches who will use them ONLY to do more conversion.
