NDA of N. Rangaswamy – Leader of All India NR Congress with
Jug Symbol and A. Namasivayam – Puducherry BJP Leader ( A Good Winning Catch
from INC due to his differences with V. Narayanasamy – who was parachuted from
New Delhi last time to become CM being a loyalist of Sonia-Rahul-Priyanka
Dynasty) with Lotus Symbol had defeated Congress where even previous CM
Narayanasamy was not contesting 2021 Assembly Election, Congress could win only
2 seats out of 14 seats in alliance with DMK who won 6 out of 13 seats.
Vote Share of AINR and BJP was 26%
and 14% respectively (rounded off), while that of DMK and INC was 19% and 16%
respectively.
ADMK of NDA which contested 5 seats
drew blank.
One set back for Rangaswamy – CM
was that he won Thattanchavadi, but, was defeated in Yanam – but fortunately it
had avoided another election if he had won two seats contested.
Entry of BJP under the banner of
NDA was a great moral booster for Hindus in particular breaking the Dravidian
Barriers and its march in the days to come in the Dravidian Soils of Tamilnadu
cannot be stopped. Sensing Hindu Vote Bank consolidation, even Dravidian
Parties had changed its tune due to political compulsions – if not due to its
policy change.
Real reasons – apart from various
factors – previous Narayanasamy Congress Government’s defeat should be
attributed to Former Lt. Governor of
Kiran Bedi’s high handedness in hindering the duly elected Government to
function thereby paralyzing Government’s plans and schemes. Narayanasamy as CM
on many occasions had to resort to dharnas which might not have been palatable
to the Puducherry public. Centre’s move
in changing Kiran Bedi just before election date had also helped BJP + .
Further while Narayanasamy was not
even stood in previous election, he was chosen as CM by Congress High Command
much to the disapproval and disappointments of elected MLAs
Anyhow Congress Mukt Puducherry
syndrome would have an impact on
neighboring States of TN and even to some extent Karnataka. One great solace
for Congress was that in Tamilnadu, Congress had won 18 seats out of 25 seats
contested which indicates a strike rate of 72%.
