1006th Birth Anniversary of Sri Ramanujacharya on 25th April 2023


Sri Ramanuja Acharya (1017-1137 C.E.) was a great Hindu philosopher and thinker. 

He is the most venerated Acharya in the philosophy of Sri Vaishnavism. 

He was born in 11th century in the village of Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu in 1017 CE. 

Sri Ramanuja birth name was Lakshmana and also referred to as Ilaya Perumal. 

He was disappeared at the age of 120 in Srirangam, Tamil Nadu in 1137 CE. 

BHAGAWAD RAMANUJACHARYA’S MESSAGES: 

v Shed your ego. Serve all beings as service to God.

v Serve society which is the universal form of God.

v Nobody is infallible.

v Do not humiliate anyone.

v What is of supreme importance is purity of mind and deed.

The three major philosophical works of Ramanuja are the Vedartha Sangraha (commentary on the Vedas), the Sri Bhasya (commentary on the Brahma Sutras) and the Bhagavad Gita Bhasya. 

Shri Ramanuja’s Minor Works are Six in numbers which are: Nitya Grantham, Vedantadipa, Vedantasara, Sarangati Gadyam, Sriranga Gadyam and Srivaikunta Gadyam. 

These 9 works of Ramanuja are known as Navratnas. 

Freedom to choose one or more personal deity and reach Brahman realization through Bhakti or devotion was preached by Sri Ramanujacharya. 

Ramanujacharya preached that the world is real and taught to attain Brahman realization by intense devotion or reason or argument rather than intuition. This was just opposite to the Vedanta of Adi Shankaracharya.

THUS SPOKE RAMANUJA: 

According to Ramanuja, there are three classes of souls, viz., Nitya (eternal), Mukta (free) and Baddha (bound). The eternal souls have never been in bondage. They are eternally free. They live with God in Vaikuntha. The freed souls were once subject to Samsara, but have attained salvation now and live with God. The bound souls are caught up in the meshes of Samsara and are striving to be released. They wander from life to life till they are redeemed. (As per Swami Sivananda Teaching). 

Those Souls which are fully filled up with the divine thoughts on Lord Vishnu whould be relieved from the worldly bondages, and they are free from the chain of birth cycles and they can permanently live with Lord Vishnu and Maha Lakshmi in the Vaikunta.

Nithyashree Mahadevan , Aruna Sairam , OS Arun , Unnikrishnan , Anuradha Shriram , Tippu & Saindhavi – names that you’re most familiar with Carnatic music who are supposed to be a role model for younger generatons .  The above mentioned singers  stooped down to the lowest level possible. They all signed up to sell their music, Thyagaraja Kirthanas to christian mission by simply changing few words and singing in praise of Jesus. It is highly condemnable that they chose to replace the word Rama with Yesu and sang all the kirthanas . It is that same Rama and Krishna who showered their blessings and made them popular and these scumbags have decided to sell our kirthanas to churches who will use them ONLY to do more conversion. Ancient India was called as Bharatavarsa meaning thereby – the country ( varsa ) of Bharata – Emperor Bharata , the son of Shakuntala and Dushyanta Maharaja. Further, Bharata in Sanskrit means Bha – Light and Knowledge and Rata – Devoted and hence Bharata means ‘Devoted to light/knowledge’.
