Shield of Whip to U-Turn Master Time Magazine
Time Magazine had published in its on line web site on
the 9th
May 2019 one cover article titled “India’s Divider in Chief” which was penned
by Aatish Taseer, son of Indian
Journalist Tavleen Singh and late
Pakistan politician and businessman Salmaan Taseer. The Print edition
of Time magazine with the
caricature of Modi wearing a saffron
towel around his neck with the following printed in bold letters: INDIA’S
DIVIDER IN CHIEF has the date as 20th May 2019.
The title given by the author of the article is: Can
the World's Largest Democracy Endure Another Five Years of a Modi
Government?
But the Time had chosen ‘India’s Divider in Chief’ as a
caption title to the portrait of Modi on the cover page. Print Magazine was released to the
public on the 20th May 2019. The Lok Sabha Election was not
over by that time.
Opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect the views
of TIME editors – (usual parrot like utterance ) had lost its shine, as the
prominent cover page heading for Modi’s portrait is the handiwork of the editors – worst
journalistic prejudiced and polluted minds.
My accusations might have gained more weight, as Indian voters were in the process of electing
its leader through Lok Sabha election where Modi was seeking votes
for his second term as Prime Ministerial Candidate. Elections were held from
the 11th
April 2019 to 19th May 2019 in 7 stages and Time had chosen this time to
publish an article to influence the voters of India. Times had cunningly chosen
a born hatred Muslim to write a cover story to malign Modi during
election. O, Time! Tell me, is this your
sense of integrity and justice?
Story did not stop there.
Results of Lok Sabha Elections were out
on the 23rd
May 2019 and Modi’s BJP alone secured an
unprecedented seats of 303 plus its
allies 51 totaling 354!
Perhaps Time might have got a rude shock and its 50
pages profile with many masters degrees of Editorial Team members might have
been worried about its cover story portraying Modi as India’s Divider. Their utter failures to judge the
pulses of Indian masses could not have been digested by them. Therefore, they
might have thought it fit and expedient to make a good U to save their
credibility. They got an article titled:
Modi Has
United India Like No Prime Minister in Decades. And just like their previous article, the author’s title
of the article was suitably changed to fit the cover page appeal – viz. Modi as India’s Unifier
in Chief!
On line Time Magazine article titled ‘India’s Unifier in
Chief’ was published on the 28th May 2019 – 5 days after the announcement of results!
Honesty, Integrity, Truth were all butchered by the
so-called renowned magazine by calling Modi as Divider to wish him defeat and on knowing the
outcome of Lok Sabha Election results,
Time made a U-Turn within 19 days!
Indian Media had questioned the wisdom of Time and
accused Time for its interference in Indian politics. Entire world was shocked
on Times Magazine U-Turn. This Great U-Turn will never be forgotten or forgiven
and Time should carry this burden of ill will
on its back for ever.
